Ocular Migraines....

you know, some times you look and the internet will just rain data down on you....

Nothing is screamier than
Migraine is a neurological disease that can cause a wide range of symptoms during an attack. The most commonly thought of symptom is headache.[1][2][3]
[ cf Wiki On Migraine ]
great, is like gooder to tell us the useful stuff....

WOW, now here is a term you do not hear every day Homonymous hemianopsia, now remind me again why that is NOT a clear and compelling argument to Bong Canada becaue of their Gay HomoZeXual Pirate Canadianst Zombie Cliques?

Now try this one on your decaf low fat cafe late:
In cortical spreading depression, neurological activity is depressed over an area of the cortex of the brain. This situation results in the release of inflammatory mediators leading to irritation of cranial nerve roots, most particularly the trigeminal nerve, which conveys the sensory information for the face and much of the head.
( op cit Wiki On Migraine )
well there you have it!!!!

How many times have I seen Inflamatory Mediators before my very eyes!!!!

What separates the 'occular migraine' from the usual fiends is that these have all of the basic neorological disordering, but without the civil impoliteness of having an actual headache... Instead one gets a chance to review certain basic epistemological problems....

The other day I had one, and had a bit of fun with it, as I am a recovering analyst, and tend to work with data sets for reasons of national security.... and I just love to work with someone I SERIOUSLY TRUST, like me. The side bar joke here boys and girls is that I have adopted a new strategy of a bound composition note book that is by 'fact totem', when I can not remember a fact, I put it there, and then wave it around at the problem until the problem goes away or I have no other need for the fact. In this case the MetaFact is that I opened up a list of the dates and times of thes Occular ThingiePoohs Of LIBERALISM, so that I would be able to look up the actual log entry in my 3-ring binder loose leaf note book system.... Ah yes, what sort of data recovery mechanism is this????? ESPECIALLY since it may include waving religious objects in the air, but without getting out the rubber truncheons....

Anyway, all was comical with the world, and I wrote up my notes, and read my book, and then read it aloud so that I would have a secondary data stream to do the analysis that what I thought my eyes were deconstructing as tokens were working gooder... sometimes it was just like when I was trying to read books while watching the MISS PATRIOTIC MISSLE PAGENT!!! The words deserialized, but not always into ideological units...

Ultimately I cralwed off to bed, and found that my four magazines and books, were in a state!!!

Or more accurately, the problem was that I had no idea what state they were suppose to have been in... I had no active memory of them... I had the slot that said I had left them there, that i knew it should have some serious technical data, but for the life of me, I was not sure if that was suppose to be ACM, IETF, IEEE, OR BEST BASTED BUNS!!!! { a very technical journal about high energy bindings of bread products, strictly for reasons of national security and all... }

That was the somewhat scary part in the process.... my brain took the most reasonable approach to the problem. Namely it started working on when and how, someone had come into my room, and had ONLY changed out the magazines and books that were stuffed under the pillows, and yes, the one in the plain brown wrapper, and replaced them with these clearly less technical publications....

For folks who read this blog, yes, that IS a novel thought in my head. I do not always start out every day with the technical analysis of why someone would decide to ONLY change a few things in the room, and not go after the obvious things that Evil Enemies Of The State under the braincontrol of Hitlary and her Rad Femi Surf Nazi's, and their atheistical asiatic overseas paymasters, most likely still in Peking, but they may have moved...

Actually this worked out to be a lot of fun, in the long run, since it showed that the real problem with why this or that 'seems familiar' is that we have an undistrubed chain of memories that suggest that this is the way that it has always been, without the Naked Glitches that we really have no serious memories of that event, the one that would BE REQUIRED for THAT to be in my room!!!!

Amusingly, as time moved along, I knew that I had seen these specific images and sequences of data, and that they were not some deje vue, they were as close as i would be able to get to the 'memory' not of the mag and the trivial detail, but the memory set that said I had actually HAD memories of those mags and therefore would have the tedious response in my brain that asserts that this is a NON-NOVEL event.....

Most people REALLY never do enough thinking about the 'virgin system' - how important it is for our little brains to be able to start things from cold chaulks, with no attached memories, or conversely to know that they are at least near to the right places, simply because, well, there is no 'virgin green fields' out before us with regards to that object and/or event.....

At least now I have a better understanding of that experience, but I am not convinced that it is a truly required one for folks to get their heads around data acquisition and the rest of epistemology....

And yes, the reason I know that it is called an ocular migraine was having the fun of sharing the symptom set with my MD over our annual chat, and his advice that the best thing is not not have any of the dangerous ocular occurances, that can occur, at high speeds on a freeway...
