Is Tradition, We Always Start World Wars In Balkans...

Well kiddies, the financial segment is reporting that Putin's Economic Advisor has tendered his resignation:
An outspoken economic adviser to President Vladimir Putin said Tuesday he had offered his resignation, saying he could no longer work in a government that had done away with political freedoms.

Andrei Illarionov, the lone dissenter in a Kremlin dominated by Putin's fellow KGB veterans, was stripped of his duties as envoy to the Group of Eight leading industrialized nations earlier this year. However, he had remained Putin's economic adviser.

Illarionov made the move after harshly criticizing the Kremlin's course last week, when he said that political freedom in Russia has steadily declined and that government-controlled corporations have stifled competition and ignored public interests.

"It is one thing to work in a partly free country, which Russia was six years ago. It is quite another when the country has ceased to be politically free," he said Tuesday, according to the ITAR-Tass news agency.

I hate to remind folks that back in the day Komsomol tried to warn folks that if the CPSU fell, that it would be 'chicago style gangsterism'. I don't think that they really could have imagined that it would be the old boys network from the KGB who would be organizing a 'corporate statism' ( cf Corporatism ) as the way out of the WhicheverIsWhatever. But hey, it is some sort of progress, eh no?

And remember, Progess Is Progressive.

So we can only hope that their Commitment to Stopping the International TheyThemThoseTypes will stay in synch with our own WhateverOnWhomever, so that the world is kept safe for the WhicheverIsWhatever.

But the good news seems to be at least these are not issues in the Balkans...
