crimes against humanity is a stark reminder of conditions in Iraq under the former leader's regime. Mr. Blair refused to directly support the sentence, however, noting Britain's opposition to the death penalty.
Mr. Blair told reporters in London the verdict handed down against Saddam Hussein is a reminder of the "sheer terror" of that regime.
"The trial of Saddam gives us a chance to see again what the past in Iraq was - the brutality, the tyranny, the hundreds-of-thousands of people that he killed, the wars in which there were a million casualties," he said.

Amongst the open questions that are really on the table, in no particular order.
What did Saddam DO that was so bad that folks can not understand and accept that accidents like that happen???
I mean, it's not like we as a nation do not understand the pressures that a Great Military Leader gets into, and that from time to time one can accidentally send one's troops into the wrong country for the wrong reason. But that's not really a bad thing, now is it???
As for irradicating the infestation of Ideological Deviationalists in one's own nation.... well, that too can happen, as we all know, in a time of Iranian Flying Saucers and Such... I mean all americans understand how hard it is to prevent people from irradicating the infestation of those who hold dangerous ideas that are Oppose to Great Leader, and that simply Irradicating People is not as bad as well, torturing them for no reason, but even torturing them for no reason is understandable in a Time of Iranian Flying Saucers, because, well, those things can happen, and well, folks will understand that it was really all about trying to keep the nice people safe....
