Fun with the deflationary Spiral Of DOOM!!!!

Ok, so I have been explaining to madmerle, one of the critical questions when shopping is whether or not one wants to pay the "opening day premium". On some things, yes. The Return of Depression Economics and the Crisis of 2008 by paul krugman, that I am willing to pay the freight at the local Books Inc., so that I support local biznezz, and get the big hard back edition. His The Conscience of a Liberal, that I am willing to wait for it to come out in paperback and pick up a copy at Leigh’s Favorite Books when it comes out in Paper Back, on or about January 12th, 2009.

The same is equally true of such Kultur Kampf as The Da Vin ci Kode - which finally showed up at a reasonable enough price for the collectors special edition two disk set. IT was not something that I needed to see as a part of the flow of history. There were clearly OTHER ISSUES on the table that were about the HORRORS of the ThingusOfPooh at the time that were both more socially relevant, and Marked To Market.

Granted, I was SOOOOO Depressed that War, Inc. did not do a stroll through the Cinema, and that I would be more Market Focus'd than to pay the additonal costs for it when it did come out on DVD, and would wait for it to arrive at a More Market Oriented Price....

Ah yes, the downward spiral of the deflationary pressures... I mean, why should I be paying "white people from the burbs pricing?" Do I look like one of them???? Granted, it is a BIT FREIGHTENING when the hot new trendo matic model is that all of the RICH WHITE PEOPLE FROM THE BURBS start shopping with a Deflationary Spiral in their Big Bag of God Hating America Bashing....

I mean! HELLO!!! when the white flight is from itself... where are the normal people suppose to go???

I have two basic discretionary spending extraveganza - Books and DVD's. Right now my backlog of books to read is getting TOTALLY OUT OF CONTROL!!! and I may have to officially hire professional readers to get me a summary of them.... or take one of those evilean woodie spad rading korses.

On the floor in front of the Holy Shrine of VideoDrome, I have a backlog of DVD's that are yearning to be viewed. I even found that I had bought that other set from the A&E folks, with it's cultural stuff...

So if I stop buying, because I just do not have the time to be the DEMAND SIDE PRESSURE!!!! Will that mean that the Supply Side folks will be able to take up the economic slack by making more??? Will all of those "new day in America" types be able to just wave their Ideological Wands of MiltonFriedmanesque Laffer Curve, and suddenly there will be the sort of excesss supply of demand as to keep the employment in place???? So that the ideological WONKS will be able to Pimp their Ideology at mark to model mechanical madness????

HUM.... what if we do not need to appeal to the Washington D.C. Baby Sitting Ko-Op, and Krugman does? to see how the real forms of deflationary pressures are brought to bear upon an economy????

What if it is really time for folks to work out which is their dogma...

Once More, it is that time of year again...

Gerald Celente, the CEO of Trends Research Institute — known for predicting the 1987 stock market crash and the fall of the Soviet Union — is forecasting revolts and food scarcity in the U.S. by 2012, Commodity Online reports.
Celente says that by 2012 America will become an undeveloped nation, that there will be a revolution marked by food riots, squatter rebellions, tax revolts and job marches, and that holidays will be more about obtaining food, not gifts.

“We’re going to see the end of the retail Christmas….we’re going to see a fundamental shift take place….putting food on the table is going to be more important that putting gifts under the Christmas tree,” said Celente, adding that the situation would be “worse than the great depression”.

“America’s going to go through a transition the likes of which no one is prepared for,” said Celente, noting that people’s refusal to acknowledge that America was even in a recession highlights how big a problem denial is in being ready for the true scale of the crisis.
...
But Celente is not alone in predicting class tension and food problems. In an interview on Huffington Post journalist Christiane Amanpour predicts that food scarcity and the growing divide between the have and the have-nots will be among the major international stories of 2009.

In related HORROR, one of my deranged friends noted that the Mayan Calendar runs out of dates in 2012, and hence that this is the end of the Universe.

Needless to say, we have similar problems to deal with:
ONLY if you are the sort of ATHEIST who is hateful and does not accept that the Mayan Calander is the Gift Of the ONE TRUE AND ONLY GOD!!!!

Clearly the first ammendment should support freedom of speach, but it should not allow Fringe Groups to attack the TRUE belief in the Mayan Calendar GOD!!!

ok, so maybe one should put MORE distance between the url (op cit) and the current whine fest about the atheists not supporting Xmas in the way of those who are FIGHTING VALIANTLY to put the Mass back into "Christ Mass", so that we all support the CORRECT CATHOLIC HABIT of celebrating three kings days, vice XMass, as is the GODLESS way of the God Hating America Bashing Protestants who OPPOSE the divine WILL of GOD!!!

would this be a gooder time to talk about the corrector implementation of Orthodox Xtianity???

Yes Boys and NonMalePerkin....

As we look to protect GOD's ONE TRUE and ONLY Permenant Capital Gains Tax Cuts, to protect us from Gay HomoZeXual Marriages, do we really want to regression into the Apostasy of Papist Propoganda???

Is the Collapse of the Mayan GOD Calendar a sufficiency of Proof in itself, that we must defeat Gay HomoZeXual Marriages, and thus restore the divine will about Permenant Capital Gains Tax Cuts.... You know, to protect buffy and muffy, and their Divinely Inspired Trust Funds...

They Hate Guacamole More Than YOU!!!

And YOU should feel ashamed!
...is, according to Robert Samuelson, the mighty Center for Budget and Policy Priorities. It warps American public policy by successfully lobbying for policies that take the wealth of the deserving rich and give it to the middle class and the poor.

Robert Samuelson:
We here in Washington are anticipating a stampede of lobbyists, influence peddlers, media consultants, paid "experts" and self-styled crusaders. Who brought us this onslaught of special pleaders? Why, it's Barack Obama, the man who vowed to "change" how Washington works and banish from the political arena all those "special interests" that were depicted as a form of low-life devoid of all respectability.... The more powerful government becomes, the more lobbying there will be.... Obama's ambitions for more expansive government will promote special pleading.... Lobbyists have a bad rap.... Myth number one is that lobbying is anti-democratic, because it frustrates "the will of the people." Just the opposite is true: lobbying is an expression of democracy. We are a collection of special interests.... A second myth is that lobbying favors the wealthy... the facts contradict that. Sure, the wealthy extract privileges from government, but mainly they're its servants.... As for the poor and middle class, they do have powerful advocates. To name three: AARP for retirees and near retirees; the AFL-CIO for unionized workers; the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities for the poor...
Why oh why can't we have a better press corps?

Close down Newsweek. Close it down yesterday. Close down the Washington Post. Close it down ten years ago. Sow the furrows with salt. Each day that they dirty more paper with their garbage is an offense against Nature and Nature's God!

[ cf Our New Ruling Class... (emphasis added to help the deaf smell the methane) ]
But he forgot to mention:
Class Warfare By Radical Leftists against the True Ruling Elite
Permenant Capital Gains Tax Cuts
The HORROR of Gay HomoZeXual Marriage Agendanista!
to mention a few specific HORRORS that clearly must be addressed in the ongoing horror of horrors..

Remember, you are either doing your part to stop THEM!!!

Or the Terrorsits WIN!

People Who JUST do not understand Gay HomoZeXual Marriages Impact on CRA

What can you say about an Op-Ed whose very first sentence is a giant pile of steaming bullshit? That statement is demonstrably false. As the prior post on foreclosures shows, the concentration is mostly middle class and upper middle class white suburban neighborhoods. California leads the nation in foreclosures. The state’s foreclosure activity was up 51% from a year ago. These are not CRA communities, they are what were hoped to be surburban bedroom communities east of the major cities (San Diego and L.A.) Next up is Florida; The state’s foreclosure activity was still up 68 percent from November 2007. The enormous overbuilding of Condos, and not CRA, is to blame. These weren’t inner city loans to minorities, as Dan Gross pointed out, they were “WCI Communities — builder of highly amenitized condos in Florida (no subprime purchasers welcome there)” WCI filed for bankruptcy in August. “Very few of the tens of thousands of now-surplus condominiums in Miami were conceived to be marketed to subprime borrowers, or minorities—unless you count rich Venezuelans and Colombians as minorities.”...
[ cf New York Times Crashed-and-Burned Watch (CRA Edition) ]
Ok, yes, yes, yes... it would be nice if folks were not as confused about how Venexuelan and Columbina Drug Lords are not really Gay...

But, let us ask ourselves - clearly IF Gay HomoZeXual Marriages were not pushing, well, those types into the market, then, there would have been the sort of folks who would be buying into the sorts of places, where they would be real SubPrime, based upon teh CRA gambitting, and not crushed under the repression of Gay HomoZeXual Marriages.

You see, when one factors in teh Factuals that would be factual, if they were fact laden, then the TruthiNeffe is Truthier!!!

Thus proving that only by a Permenant Capital Gains Tax Cut can we free ourselves from the evils of Gay HomoZeXual Marriages pushing nice folks into the Middle Class where they are no longer eligible to be blamed for being the driving influence of sub prime mortguages.

AND it would put the MASS back in "christ mass"... even if it would be a fiscal fiasco, what with not having a year in blow out....

Got Math Anxiety???

Well, now you can be the cool kid:
A member of wilmott.com didn't believe me when I said how many people get stuck on the one in 52 answer, and can't see the 100% answer, never mind the more interesting answers. He wrote "I can't believe anyone (who has a masters/phd anyway) would actually say 1/52, and not consider that this is not...a random pick?" So he asked some of his colleagues the question, and his experience was the same as mine. He wrote "Ok I tried this question in the office (a maths postgraduate dept), the first guy took a fair bit of convincing that it wasn't 1/52!, then the next person (a hardcore pure mathematician) declared it an un-interesting problem, once he realised that there was essentially a human element to the problem! Maybe you have a point!" Does that not send shivers down your spine? It does mine...
[ cf One of these days in your travels, a guy is going to show you a brand-new deck of cards on which the seal is not yet broken. Then this guy is going to offer to bet you that he can make the jack of spades jump out of this brand-new deck of cards and squirt cider in your ear. But, son, do not accept this bet, because as sure as you stand there, you're going to wind up with an ear full of cider. ]
Actually folks, the correct answer is ZERO, because of course the Magician is setting folks up, especially if this is about Hedge Fund Games.

This proves that stopping Math is a first step in ENDING the evil of Capital Gains Taxes, that clearly cause not only Gay HomoZeXual Marriage Agendanista, but obviously Math Stuff too...

But what if Richard Rorty is being channelled by Obama?

This would change the arguments how?
It was none other than my favorite philosopher, Richard Rorty.

As you might imagine, I'm now really curious to know if a well-thumbed copy of Rorty's Achieving Our Country is sitting on a bookshelf in the Obama home library. I'd be willing to bet folding money on the proposition. Rorty's critique of the American left sounds almost precisely like Obama's campaign speeches.

Suffice to say, I think Hayes might be right to notice that Obama is probably a Pragmatist with an upper-case 'P', but I suspect he's missing the connection. It isn't Dewey, James and Pierce. Obama is almost certainly more familiar with Rorty than those old dead guys from the previous century, having "palled around with him" in person on at least one occasion.

[ cf s9: Obama Is A Pragmatist? ]
Ok, so I like the rip on the palled around with, since it is sooooo much cutesyIer in this context.

What would be more interesting of course would be an actual discussion of Post-Marxianism as a relevant part of the modern era.

Should americans be willing to deal with the problems of living in the post-Factual world, and whether or not big-T Truth is worth the candle. ( cf What's the Use of Truth? ) or should we just put our fists in the Air like the other CiviliansUnderNavalTraining, and forget about Rehumanize Yourself, since, well, the most important thing in a time of war is Tax Cuts!!!

Ah yes... what if reading and reading with comprehension were more than merely an academic art... But a critical requirement in an actual Free Republic...
