Economic's Based Ontological Proof Of the existence of GOD!

As anyone who is aware of Uncle Miltie's Economics, there is a Market, with supply and demand curves for Labor.

When the dot.com era came to a close, and dumped it's excess of CEO/CFO types on the market, the excess supply, not matched by an excess demand, would have forced down the wages of CEO/CFO, to keep in compliance with the market fundamentals.

Because this did not occur, it follows that a Miracle Occurred.

Since there was so clearly a Miracle, there must have been a Divine Economist to do the Great Wonder.

QED, there is a God who Loves us so much that he gave us Nukes, and the means to torture the unbelievers until we can erase any of their memories of the dark and evil times before they were saved from their unbelief.

Speaking of which, would this be a good time to talk about accepting the Divinity of Dubya, or are you planning to start over again in the New Economic Prosperity Zones.

President COUNTERS dirty stinking Anti-War Draft Dodging Hippies!!!

God, it's just like back in the Day, when the Peace Candidate Nixon showed the world he was not afraid to take on the Dirty Stinking Hippies!!!!
President Bush on Friday defended recent federal intervention in the financial system as necessary to ward off a wider economic crisis and said the actions were not just a Wall Street bailout.

"People look at the crisis and say, 'Oh, it's only Wall Street,' " said Bush, addressing the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. "I don't think so. In fact, I know that if we had not acted, it would have affected the American people directly."

"If the government had not acted, the hole in our financial system would have gotten larger," he added.

[ cf Bush defends bailout ]
And to think Those Dirty Stinkin Karl Roverian Draft Dodging Hippies would oppose a War President when congress has given him all of the authority that anyone would ever need....

Clearly we should just ship the DIRTY STINKING HIPPIES off to the NEPZ

Then america would be safe for americans....

Do YOU support the President? Or are you seeking a new life opportunity in the NEPZ?

More economic funnies...

Time to think about how to teach Econ 236B: Economic Growth in the spring--if it winds up on my plate.

In my experience, courses like this do best if they are:
We read the fifteen recent big papers in Economic Growth that are most likely to serve as launching pads for dissertations--for graduate students to write extensions or critiques of them that have the best chance of getting them good jobs at places with smart students and no heavy lifting.
Suggestions?
[ cf Econ 236B: Economic Growth ]
OK, so i am in a more flexible mood.

We have a freshout jarhead, and he called me sir, as he passed my work spot. We had laughed earlier, and I had mentioned I had been in the fleet... well, I got the wind up, and was willing to kvetch about 'putting my boot up where it will...' as he rejoined that he had meant only to show due regard.... and I got to laugh again... about a misplaced memory, about Kimo, and the first class when I was freshout. Kimo had been with pershing missiles, and when the instructor walked briskly up to class, I just caught myself in time, as I started to spin around to salute him....

Ah yes.... what goes around, comes around, and around and around...

No heavy lifting... yeah, right...

And nobody dies...

Former Fetus Barack Obama [Ed Whelan]
I mean, how can the NRO take seriously the idea that threatening the life of an American Presidential candidate should be considered less than polite???

Ah yes.... things are clearly getting tough in the Karl Roverian Draft Dodger Kulture....

Who knows, they may even notice that some folks back in the day actually served in the american armed forces to defeat the actual evil empire - and some of them folks sat on their faces, spewing the wonders of Milton Friedman....

Hey HEY! HO! HO!!! How Many NRO's Forgot To GO!!!

Hey HEY! HO! HO!!! How Many NRO's Forgot To GO!!!

Hey HEY! HO! HO!!! How Many NRO's Forgot To GO!!!

Or are they now going to whine that federal law is suppose to protect them from being persecuted for their failure to do their national service time in the armed forces....

Why is Peggy Noonan Stabbing The Troops In The back?

"Sometimes the leak is so bad that even a plumber can't fix it." This was the concise summation of a cable political strategist the other day, after the third and final presidential debate. That sounds about right, and yet the race in its final days retains a feeling of dynamism. I think it is going to burst open or tighten, not just mosey along. I can well imagine hearing, the day after Election Day, a lot of "You won't believe it but I was literally in line at the polling station when I decided."

Catapulting the Barracuda to a leadership role is also the goal of the fawning campaign biography of Palin, Sarah Palin: A New Kind of Leader, just out from Zondervan, a Christian imprint owned by Rupert Murdoch. While other tentacles in Murdoch's media empire play the endless loop of smears and insinuations that Obama is subversive and un-American, the new Palin biography paints a vapid, unquestioning portrait of a salt-of-the-earth American gal whose supposed authenticity makes her the real embodiment of the change we've been waiting for.

The animating theme of the book is that Palin's political values and judgment are best understood through her personal life rather than her political resumé, and can best be summed up by Trig, Track, Bristol. Not drill, baby, drill, but baby, war, baby.

Palin's faith, writes author Joe Hilley, is to be implicitly trusted as right for America. "At the center of Sarah Palin's moral core lies a profound belief in God, the Judeo-Christian God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob who is more fully revealed in the person and work of Jesus Christ." She believes in the authority and truth of the Scripture, we are told, in the Ten Commandments, and in the authority granted in Genesis for humans "to exercise dominion and control over the earth."

yes, it is SOOO what we have all been waiting for...

The government has announced that it plans to use $250 billion to buy ownership stakes in various U.S. financial institutions. According to the New York Times, nine major U.S. banks have already been forced into the program. “The chief executives of the nine largest banks in the United States . . . were each handed a one-page document that said they agreed to sell shares to the government, then Treasury Secretary Henry M. Paulson Jr. said they must sign it before they left. . . . ‘It was a take it or take it offer,’ said one person who was briefed on the meeting, speaking on condition of anonymity because the discussions were private. ‘Everyone knew there was only one answer’”--even though at least one institution, the relatively healthy Wells Fargo, wanted to say no.

According to Yaron Brook, executive director of the Ayn Rand Center for Individual Rights, “In herding banking executives into a room and making them an offer they couldn’t refuse, the Paulson regime took its latest and most disturbing step yet on the path to state control of the economy.

Blast From The Past....

During the mid-1980s, economists became aware that something unexpected was happening to the distribution of income in the United States. After three decades during which the income distribution had remained relatively stable, wages and incomes rapidly became more unequal. Academic researchers soon began arguing vigorously about the causes of the growth in inequality: was it global competition, government policy, changing technology, or some other factor? What nobody, whatever his or her political stripe, questioned was the fact that there had been a dramatic change in income distribution.

During 1992 this genteel academic discussion gave way to a public debate, carried out in the pages of the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, and assorted popular magazines. This public debate was remarkable in two ways. First, the conservative side displayed great ferocity in presenting its case and attacking its opponents. Second, conservatives chose to take an odd, and ultimately indefensible, position. They could legitimately have challenged those who have called attention to the growing dispersion of income on the grounds that nothing can, or at any rate should, be done about it. But with only a few exceptions they chose instead to make their stand on the facts to deny that the massive increase in inequality had happened. Since the facts were not on their side, they were forced into an extraordinary series of attempts at statistical distortion.

The whole episode teaches us two lessons. At one level, it is a sort of textbook demonstration of the uses and abuses of statistics. This article reviews that lesson, tracing out how conservatives tried to distort the record and why they were wrong. But the combination of mendacity and sheer incompetence displayed by the Wall Street Journal, the U.S. Treasury Department, and a number of supposed economic experts demonstrates something else: the extent of the moral and intellectual decline of American conservatism.

Some folks say that McCain admits that the Joe The Plumber was a player in their crew, Alfred E. Smith Memorial Dinner John Mccain. Hey, maybe McCain means it, maybe its...

In related News, seems the EVIL RED COMMUNISTS are seeking to destroy america
Seems Joe, who is actually Samuel J. Wurzelbacher, told the conservative Web site familysecuritymatters.org that catching the Democratic presidential candidate off guard "was actually my intent."

"Looks like there's a crack in Joe the Plumber's story," said Bob Mulholland, the Democratic party activist and adviser, after some details of Wurzelbacher's life emerged Thursday.
...
For one, Wurzelbacher's expressed concern about paying more taxes looked a bit tarnished with the revelation that he owes Ohio about $1,200 in personal income taxes, according to the Lucas County Court of Common Pleas records. And there's a 2007 civil filing that shows a record for a $1,200 owed to a creditor, St. Charles Mercy Hospital.

So Wurzelbacher has an active lien on his property filed in January 2007, records from the Ohio Department of Taxation show.

The Toledo Blade, examining Lucas County Building Inspection records, reported that his employer, the A.W. Newell Corp., "does maintain a state plumbing license, and one with the City of Toledo, but would not be allowed to work in Lucas County outside of Toledo without a county license."
...
And as comic Bill Maher pointed out, in his 15 minutes of fame, Wurzelbacher has already done more interviews than Palin.

Voters Learn Important Lesson

Dozens of newly minted Republican voters say they were duped into joining the party by a GOP-hired contractor with a trail of fraud complaints stretching across the country.

Voters contacted by The Times said they were tricked into switching parties while signing what they believed were petitions for tougher penalties against child molesters. Some said they were told that they had to become Republicans to sign the petition, contrary to California initiative law. Others had no idea their registration was being changed.

"I am not a Republican," insisted Karen Ashcraft, 47, a pet clinic manager and former Democrat from Ventura who said she was duped by a signature gatherer into joining the GOP. "I certainly . . . won't sign anything in front of a grocery store ever again."

[ cf Voters contend they were duped into registering as Republicans ]
MAYBE the other idea is to learn to READ!!!!

Maybe the paper would be useful to READ, and not simply think that because someone steps up to pimp some stop the CHILD MOLESTORS that this means that they give a Rat's Screw about that problem!!!

Maybe if americans opted IN to both learning to Read Gooder, and to get Gooder Reader's to teach their children that Reading Gooder Was GOOD!, who knows... Maybe folks would read more Gooder!!!

Economic Thot Experiment.

If companies were to face a law limiting the liability of a credit card holder to any fraudulent charges.

Would the company work on protecting both the credit card holders from fraud, as well as making sure that once reported, that the card was shut down.... So as to limit the losses for the corporation. Since they will not be able to rip off the merchant or the credit card holder, due to the EVIL of the law.

In a free trade, free market system, where no such law would be allowed to impinge upon the freedom of the free market, what is the market incentive for the company to seek any of these inovations, since the company will be able to collect both the merchant fee, as well as the fees and interest from the poor schmuck.

So if Laws can stimulate innovation, they are thus clearly a bad idea, eh no?

More Evil Liberals Stabbing Our Troops In The Back!!!

ABC News' Teddy Davis and Rigel Anderson report: Embattled Republican Sen. Susan Collins is calling on Sen. John McCain to stop paying for automated phone calls which describe Sen. Barack Obama as having "worked closely" with "domestic terrorist Bill Ayers."

"These kind of tactics have no place in Maine politics," said Collins spokesman Kevin Kelley. "Sen. Collins urges the McCain campaign to stop these calls immediately."
