Argumentum Ad Hominem

for those who were victims of a liberal education, the subject line is the name of the classical logical fallacy for 'arguing at the man'.

Most folks are aware of this in the context of 'name calling', or denigrating others.

But there is the other side of that discussion. The irrational presumption that one's 'veteran status' adds weight to the argument.

I wish to remind folks of this, since the argument should stand or fall on it's own merit, rather than on the status of the person presenting the argument. This is one of the fundamental problems with those who want their 'veteran status' to add weight to their argument. We watched this before, and it keeps coming around the ferris wheel of kharma again.

So please folks. Think it through before we have to deal with the reality of
Negroes and Sailors
Keep Off The Grass
since let us be honest, we have a command staff at the white house that has a lack of 'in the field time' and one really would not wish to offer aid and comfort to the enemy for damning them for their lack of combat time, now would folks?

Small Social Unpleasantry

Finally calming down enough to understand that the sound was like that of a silenced 9mm. Which of course semantically evaluates to a hit, since it was a single shot, rather than the traditional multi-tap...

But I guess that is an accoustic experience that few folks have.

Married to a semantical engine that most do not know.

Should Americans Be Aware of the Current WhateverOnWhomEver???

I would point you to the concern of john_of_arabia in A few thoughts as a way to start worrying more. Since once again we are dealing with the troops coming home and noticing the reality of what american cultural malaise is all about.

For those of you who missed it during the vietnam era, and during the reagan era, or were detached by other issues during the clinton era, would now be a good time to work out which part of the great american cultural malaise would be useful to dump?

Or would that be asking too much of the 'proWarTypes' who are long on rhetoric, but just not able to get past their attention deficiet disorders to bring to action that which they have been so rhetorically committed to?
