Internet Isn’t Killing Papers, We Are
In this case I fear the writer is noting that some of the economic skew of the personalities in the news like industry is what has lead to problems in that media as a revenue stream.

It may also explain why more and more Media is InfoTainment!

And that is probably how it should be. Do we really want to risk the horror of a marginally literate society?
