I so can not wait to see the next installment: Terminator: The Bible Studies Group.
Ok, so when i wanted to show TheUnBeliever the Classic Galaxy Quest before we went to see Star Trek, then need for a new movie Thingie, TheUnBeliever was worried that it would taint his perspective on the film. Well, I have to confess, I should have listened to reasonablish advice.
Last night we opted to watch Chasing Amy - which is a film I should discuss under it's own heading. But the collateral damage is that we started to talk about stuff, across a wide spectrum. What went BONK off my head was the decaf moment - that when the original Terminator Played, I had no idea how to relate to the start of the film where we are talking LA in the start of the 80's - since I got to see the film while watching the CommieRatBastards and wondering what we would all be doing if the failure to manage the problem FAILED.
For those of you who remember the fun life of "thinking the unthinkable" and living out those technically challenging moments of wondering if this was that short gap of time before we get Presidential Weapons Release Authorization, you can remeber what it was like to live in various types of military bunkers....
So it struck me that I so did not understand a part of the core process that so many of my contemporaries CONUS would have understood better....
And now, here we are, in the middle of the bible burning crisis of memorial day weekend, as americans try to wonder what it means that their government is open about waterboarding without torture....
Could it be that we are still in a need to work out how we as americans cope with our technologicial disadvantages? That we have lost he ability to be able to live where there is truth and false, and not merely Piles And Piles of Organically Recycled Grain Products Processed Through Bovines...
Maybe that is a part of the Fugly I keep wondering about - what would we be talking about if the Big Balloon went up, and it was not about stopping "skynet" from killing us all off, but from the ongoing crisis of how exactly are we going get enough food in to feed what ever is left of the human race in the unpleasantry of the Nuclear Autumn - as the weather calculations drifted ever so optomistically from Nuclear Winter to Nuclear still too cold in too many places for a good harvest....
But I guess that does sort of BOLLOCK the system doesn't it....
Why is it that we as a society like the idea of Having a THEM to be afraid of? To be frightened by? To be the TheyThemThoseFolks we must rally around in militarized little formations of blind obedience to oppose???
Don't get me wrong. I have nothing against living in Bunkers....
I just have grown accustom to the warm kuddlyWuddlyGenderAppropriatePerKinAge to huddle up with, that do things for me that no amount of Battle Rattle And Deep Emotional Association with my FireArm will ever really power motivate me....
Maybe that is the big kicker between the Pro-WarWheenies and the other players.... Some of us know what we will be misplacing if we have to go back to living in Bunkers....
So why not hope that by the time we get to the Fun Installment of "Terminator: The Diaper Changing Sessions" that we will have a species that can find some way to support their gene replication mechanisms that does not require them to get all OOK-OOK chest pounding defeat the scary things in the dark beyond the camp fire light to get them all fired up to meet gender appropriate ones....
What if the Freaking Hippies were right:
