What causes property values to decline.

from ggreenwald, we learn of In Praise of Stigmas wherein john j miller of course explains that the problem is that people become unemployed because they are just not motivated to keep their jobs.

In like manner, the current down trend in market value of commercial property is clearly caused by the laziness of certain commercial properties to do what must be done to be hip, cool, trendy and hot!

Thus ONLY by shaming these commercial properties will they be able to regain not only their dignity, but also their fair market value.

BUT will the Obamanites begina campaign of shaming commercial properties to stop them from losing more of their value! Of course not, the Obamanites are stuck in that failed pre-911 culture of mere reality based realities, and lack the faith in the faith based economic models.

I wish I had a position here.

Intractability of Financial Derivatives - Andrew Appel offers an interesting, and scary, awareness that the derivatives game is not only fungable, but, well, massively corruptible.

If you have the time, click on through and review the big scary.

The short story is that in theory folks could be able to check all of the assets in a given CDO, or CDO like asset, to make sure that each asset in the various tranche's conforms to some notion of standard, or standard of value. But that way seems to upEnd the apple cart about CDO' offering a transparency, in which the whole is presumed to be safe enough.

Ah yes, what if there were more than a few issues in the shadow banking system, that have yet to be brought out into the light, disinfected, and put back on the road to a healthy banking system.

What if there is more than one EnronIzer willing to game the system for short term profit over long term economic stability and soundness?

TheShrillOne Fails to accept the New NewWorldOrder.

For those of you who failed to notice
Right now, this rule says that the Fed funds rate should be -5.6%. So we’re hard up against the zero bound.
...
Bear in mind that I’m using entirely standard, conventional analysis here. It’s the people saying that the Fed should start tightening in the near future who are inventing some kind of new, unspecified framework to justify their views.

[ cf When should the Fed raise rates? (even more wonkish) ]
We should all remember that theShrillOne has a long, and irrational commitment to mere civilian governments, without the acceptance that the alternative History has always accepted that the American Economy, which was in recovery ONLY after the total victory over the unbeleivers, and that this was only made possible when the americans embraced the All Military Government of the Military, as the way that americans believe in the New America For Americans.

At which point we can all embrace the happiness that the economy has always been in full recovery.

Otherwise you are in the unpleasant reality space where IF the economic Miracle was MORE Miraculously Miraculous, then in two years the Fed would STILL be stuck holding the current Ben “Chauncey” Bernanke as The True Chauncy Gardinier - a lovely note from back in april, when the WSJ was more Pro-Military Government than any of the rest of the defeatists capitulationists.

Liberals Want To Impose EuroScience Upon America

Fact is we never caught up to those socialists in Europe and - probably because they base decisions on science a little more than the average American - they are pulling out further ahead now...
[ cf Another GOP Healthcare Myth Busted ]
BUT, should we allow the Obamanites to stab the Prayer Warriors in the back with their Satanic RED Socialist Science, rather than supporting Faith Based Believing!

Why Not War Bonds?

The burden of debt - in which the shrill one harkens back to merely the historical reality of the economic impact of the RED Socialist FDRiteAssaultOnFreedomByDoingThatWarThingAgainstNicePeople!

It is interesting that they had 'war bond drives' and that the American population were the vast majority of the debt holders for that war. What if we were to have war bond drives now? What if back on 2009.09.12 the nation had risen up as one to demand a war bond drive to offer up the total national commitment to defeating IranqIstanian Flying Saucers, or what ever it was that we were concerned about, in a way that would have been consistent with established sound conservative fiscal policy?

Oh me! Oh My! What ever will we do!

The Shrill One Confused About Prayer Warrior's In Economics

Yes, it’s true that it was relatively easy to cut spending after World War II. However, during the war the United States ran massive deficits — more than 20 percent of GDP for three years. What the big cuts in defense spending after the war did was mostly to close those deficits; big defense spending during the war didn’t somehow make it easier to pay down debt after the war was over.

The fact is that the war left America with a big debt — bigger, relative to our resources, than we’re likely to face when the economic rescue is over. We dealt with it.

[ cf 1945 ]
What? simply not spending in excess of what one earns is not enough to end the debt?

WHAT? how can that be?

He doesn't mean that on top of sorting out the excess expenditures, that there was some process that involved actually paying down the debt... Why that would mean that fiscal conservancy was more than merely Prayer Warriors calling down god's wrath upon the unbelievers!

why off shoring is the rave

an interesting piece by Robert Cringely on why IBM is outsourcing aggressively

Hey, what if there were a national defense health solution that would take that part of the cost off the backs of american corporations? And put it foursquare back into the Department of Defense where it belongs all along!!!

Pricing Oxygen Right... next step after pricing water right

Grazing the Non-Commons

I mean what is the point of having bottled water come out of a tap, that is just crazy!

People should be buying their water, like their oxygen, at the prices only the FeeDome can set!

What next? Democracy is Class Warfare? like duh

My conclusion. We can only win a fight to reform the health care system if it's carried on in the context of a critique of Big Business and if it focuses on the concerns of working Americans. I am not against addressing some of the concerns of the wealthier - if it doesn't lead to compromises that make the reforms less attractive to working people. The well off in America are satisfied with the current system. After yesterday, I believe this is more of a class issue than I had thought. And it's only going to be won if working people can be organized to support it.
[ citing Pete Stark's Town Hall Meeting in Fremont ]
like duh.

There is a reason that this has been a long time in coming. There is a reason that the cheap trick of allowing corporations to use their economic leverage to provide health care, as an indirect attack on small business, was, well, the compromise of the Great Compression Era.

What if it were time to just start talking openly and honestly about the failure of deregulation, and it's gambit of transferring public oversight into the land of private profit!

The End is Endingly, uh endablised endulations!

THE WEEK THAT WAS: Recession Over, Angst Ongoing

You see if a minority of economist believe the liberal media coverage is a true divination of future performance, then of course Bernanke is WRONG to assert that we are still in the process of ending the recession, since of course our total MILITARY VICTORY over the evil liberals of wall street must be ever gloriously victorious, or the liberal media is stabbing our troops in the back with their unbelief.

Thus we can conclude that the economic Miracle is Miraculizing! and the end is Endingly!

National Socialised National Socialism

Wall Street Slips as It Awaits Fed Guidance

You just have to love the DRIPPING IRONY in that headline!

Since, well, in the happier world of FeeDome, would the market wait for some Communist Dominated MarxianistNationalSocialism, when the Heroic GoingGaltianisms would be boldly going where no man had gone before, right after the commercial break.

Chevy Volt to get 230 mpg rating: Ultra-high mileage for GM's electric-drive Volt could give it a marketing boost.

Of course, the interesting question will be if it really does what it says it can do.

Zombie Subdivisions and Shadow Inventories Hold Back Housing Recovery

Oh dear, The EVIL liberal media is so being unkind. Remember when Zombie movies were great fun times at the drive in, with that really cute girl, and were a basis for engaging in mature and responsible discourse on why Gay HomoZeXual Capitale Gaines Taxes had to be stopped before they destroyed White Christian America!

Now they want to make them a symbol of some sort of asset bubble caused by the Libertarian, and Randianist, Greenspan!!!

The Shrill One Stabs The Troops In Back With NorKoSomaliKenyanista AgitProp

So it seems that we aren’t going to have a second Great Depression after all. What saved us? The answer, basically, is Big Government.

Just to be clear: the economic situation remains terrible, indeed worse than almost anyone thought possible not long ago. The nation has lost 6.7 million jobs since the recession began. Once you take into account the need to find employment for a growing working-age population, we’re probably around nine million jobs short of where we should be.
...
All in all, then, the government has played a crucial stabilizing role in this economic crisis. Ronald Reagan was wrong: sometimes the private sector is the problem, and government is the solution.

[ cf Averting the Worst ]
How totally disgusting!!!

It's tantamount to saying that the RED Socialist WarStuff were an acceptable means by which to go to war! Rather than ending the HORROR of BigGovernment and allowing the FreeDome of the Free Market to give america all the war that it will ever need!!!

Clearly the Department of Homeland Moral Purity should arrest such Defeatist Rumour Mongers!!!

David Frum Stabing Troops In The Back!

What would it mean to “win” the healthcare fight?

For some, the answer is obvious: beat back the president’s proposals, defeat the House bill, stand back and wait for 1994 to repeat itself.

The problem is that if we do that… we’ll still have the present healthcare system. Meaning that we’ll have (1) flat-lining wages, (2) exploding Medicaid and Medicare costs and thus immense pressure for future tax increases, (3) small businesses and self-employed individuals priced out of the insurance market, and (4) a lot of uninsured or underinsured people imposing costs on hospitals and local governments.

We’ll have entrenched and perpetuated some of the most irrational features of a hugely costly and under-performing system, at the expense of entrepreneurs and risk-takers, exactly the people the Republican party exists to champion.

[ citing Faith Healing ( emmphasis mine ) ]
SHOCK!

How ever can this be!!!!

Isn't it enough to keep The Government's hands off of medicade and medicare... But to talk about PRICING the small businessses and self-employed out of the insurance market... How can that be, since clearly the Free Market System would open the doors for total military victory over the horrors of socialised thingusesUndtPooh!

What short of GODLESS defeatist rumour mongering is Komrade Party Leader From embarking upon as he stabs our glorious military in the back with his godless defeatist rumour mongering!!!
